About Dr. Shifrin
Hello! My name is Sasha (Alexandra) Shifrin and I am a Registered Psychologist with the College of Alberta Psychologists. I provide virtual therapy to adults across Alberta who are looking for tailored, evidence-based support for OCD and related concerns.
My Approach
I founded my private practice to help individuals access high-quality treatment for OCD, BFRBs, and BDD. I believe that therapy should be collaborative, structured, and paced with care. We won't just talk about the challenges you’re facing, we will work together to build a practical toolkit of skills that help you reclaim your life. My goal is to help you feel empowered to handle difficult thoughts and urges with confidence.
Education and Training
I hold a PhD in Clinical and Counselling Psychology from the University of Toronto (OISE). My clinical training took place in hospitals and specialty clinics, where I focused on complex anxiety and obsessive-compulsive disorders.
My training background includes:
The Frederick W. Thompson Anxiety Disorders Centre (Sunnybrook Health Sciences Centre)
The Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH)
Toronto Western Hospital
Alberta Health Services (Clinical Residency)
In addition to my private practice, I currently work within the public health system in a neurology outpatient clinic. This balance allows me to stay at the forefront of psychological care and bring that expertise directly to our sessions.
Why Virtual Therapy?
By practicing virtually, I can reach clients in every corner of Alberta – from major cities like Calgary and Edmonton to smaller communities that may not have local access to OCD treatment. I use Owl Practice, a secure and encrypted platform, to ensure your privacy is protected at the highest professional standard.
Nice To Meet You!
I strongly believe in finding balance in our lives to help us show up better for the work we do. When I’m not in session, you can usually find me exploring local restaurants, attending a workout class, or spending quality time with family, friends, and my two cats.
Ready To Take The First Step?
