Frequently Asked Questions

About Therapy & Services

  • I specialize in treating adults across Alberta who struggle with:

You can learn more about each condition by clicking on the name of any of the above concerns.

  • I use evidence-based treatments. This means we focus on strategies that have been proven to work in clinical research, such as:

    • Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP): Considered the gold standard treatment for OCD and related disorders

    • Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT)

    • Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)

    • Mindfulness-Based Therapy

You can learn more about each treatment by visiting my Therapy Approaches page.

  • There is no “one-size-fits-all” answer. Most clients benefit from meeting once a week or every two weeks. We will regularly check in on your progress to make sure therapy is helping you reach your goals.

Virtual Therapy in Alberta

  • Yes. Research shows that online therapy is just as effective as in-person therapy for many mental health concerns. For OCD, BFRB, and BDD, virtual therapy can actually be more helpful because we can practice skills in your actual home environment where symptoms often occur.

  • We meet via Owl Practice, a secure and private video platform. You will need a device with a camera (like a laptop or tablet) and a stable internet connection.

  • Absolutely. I use a platform that is fully compliant with Canadian privacy laws. Your sessions are encrypted and confidential.

Fees & Insurance

  • Following the Psychologists’ Association of Alberta (PAA) guidelines for Registered Psychologists in Alberta, a 50-minute session is $235.

  • I do not offer direct billing at this time. However, most insurance plans make it easy to get your money back. I provide a detailed receipt with my registration number, which you can upload to your insurance app or website for quick reimbursement.

For more information on the reimbursement process, you can visit my Fees & Insurance page.

  • Most extended health plans in Alberta cover "Registered Psychologists." Because every plan is different, I recommend checking your benefits to confirm that your insurance covers psychological services and determine how much coverage you have.

  • To keep my practice focused on providing high-quality care, I have a straightforward payment policy. This ensures that our time together is dedicated to your progress rather than administrative tasks.

Payment is expected immediately following your session. I accept Credit Cards and E-transfers.

Please note. I require a valid credit card to be kept on file. This information is securely stored on Owl Practice.

If a session fee remains unpaid, any future scheduled appointment will be cancelled. Once the outstanding balance is paid, we can resume our sessions. This policy helps prevent a backlog of fees and keeps your treatment plan on track.

Getting Started

  • The easiest way to start is to use the Contact Form.

I will email you within 1-2 business days to answer any questions you might have and confirm whether I am a good fit for you. If we move forward, I will send you a link to my secure Owl portal where you can choose a time that works for you.

  • The first session is an "intake" meeting where we lay the groundwork for your care. We will discuss your history, identify your specific symptoms and goals, and review how therapy works. By the end of the 50 minutes, we will have a "map" of your patterns and a plan for which evidence-based tools (like ERP or CBT) we will use to help you move forward.

  • You will receive forms to complete before your first session. Please review these carefully and don’t hesitate to reach out if you have any questions. These forms must be submitted before we can start our first session.

Policies & Emergencies

  • I require at least 24 hours’ notice to cancel or reschedule. Because that time is reserved specifically for you, late cancellations or missed sessions are charged the full fee.

  • I am unable to provide 24/7 crisis support. If you are in immediate danger, please call 911 or go to the nearest emergency room. You can also call the 9-8-8 Suicide Crisis Helpline or the Alberta Mental Health Help Line at 1-877-303-2642.

Have Another Question?

If you didn't find the answer you were looking for, please don't hesitate to ask. No question is too small, too 'weird,' or too specific. Whether it’s about my approach, my training, or how we might work together, I’m here to provide the clarity you need. Reach out using the contact form.

Please note. Messages sent through this form are for information purposes only and are not monitored 24/7. If you are in immediate danger or experiencing a mental health emergency, please call 911 or go to your nearest emergency room. For 24/7 support in Alberta, you can contact the Mental Health Help Line at 1-877-303-2642.
